Massimo Ferrero was arrested on Monday as part of an investigation for tax fraud. In the following hours, the 70-year-old Italian resigned as president of Sampdoria and was placed in preventive detention, and house arrest was also ordered for five other people involved in the case.
This Tuesday, Giuseppina Tenga, Ferrero’s lawyer, revealed that the former president of Sampdoria was detained in Milan while hiring the new coach for Adrien Silva’s team.
The defeat (1-3) against Lazio at home was the ‘last straw’ in Ferrero’s patience with Roberto D’Aversa and the objective was to replace him with Dejan Stankovic, coach of Estrela Vermelha.
