A BOLA – Clubs approve biggest budget ever (Liga)

The 30 clubs that this morning were represented at the General Assembly of Liga Portugal unanimously approved the budget proposal and the activity plan that the executive outlined for the next sports season.

This is the highest budget in the history of the League, approaching 23.5 million euros, for costs that should not exceed 22 million, resulting in an expected positive year of more than one million euros. This budget is also the one that will distribute the largest amount of money, directly and indirectly, to sports societies.

For Telmo Viana, finance director of the League, “unanimity says everything about the budget”, especially considering “the pre and post-pandemic”, which brought many difficulties to the business.

Already Rui Caeiro, executive director, speaks “an unequivocal demonstration of the alignment of wills” between the clubs and confesses “the enthusiasm that this challenge is to continue on a path of rigor”.

The clubs meet again in a general meeting on July 8, then to discuss issues related to the disciplinary regulation (transfer of players to the national teams), a change that did not pass in a recent AG of the Federation and that will again be considered in legal terms.

Of the League’s emblems, only Gil Vicente was represented by its president, Francisco Dias da Silva.
