A BOLA – 17-year-old midfielder signs professional contract and reveals dream (Benfica)

Benfica announced this Friday that midfielder Rafael Luís, 17, has signed a professional contract, after 12 seasons with an eagle on his chest.

«I see this renovation as a source of pride and with a lot of responsibility. It’s been twelve years now, but I want to continue many more. My dream is to make my debut at Estádio da Luz with the fans screaming my name”, said the youngster, in statements to the BTV.

Rafael Luís has been capped 15 times for the youth teams (one for the under-16 and 14 for the under-17) and was crowned junior champion in the season that has now ended, having participated in 16 games (he scored a goal) and also served 15 for the youth team (scores three goals): «From the moment we are at this level, expectations cannot be lowered, we have to continue to work every day and believe that it is possible. It remains to work and train until you reach the top. Benfica has the best players, it’s one of the best clubs in the world, it’s normal to have so much competition, not just in midfield. Now it’s time to work and wait for my opportunity.”
