A Bar in Rome Gives No Not Talking About Corona Virus

ROMA, KOMPAS.com – Of bar small on the outskirts of town Roma, the manager enforces a unique rule for his customers, namely that all related matters are strictly prohibited corona virus, lockdown, or virology.

The message was clearly emblazoned on the poster above his bar. The bar manager hopes to give his clients a break from the global pandemic over coffee AFP on Friday (20/11/2020).

“We’ve been talking about the same thing for months, so we chose to lighten the atmosphere,” said Cristina Mattioli, manager of “Feeling bar”, told AFP.

As the first European country to be hit by a pandemic, Italy has been under the shadow of a threat Covid-19 longer than most other European countries, and experienced one lockdown heaviest.

After several weeks during the summer, in which life has almost returned to normal, cases of the pandemic have spiked again, with deaths increasing every day.

“It’s not at all about denial, or not understanding the hardships of what the world is going through, but just about giving yourself a break,” said Mattioli.

Anything other than that

The 35-year-old said most customers at the bar had reacted positively to prohibition which he gave.

At the bar decorated with wooden tea-filled boxes on the walls and offering a variety of sandwiches and pastries, Bruna Piazza, a regular customer who came in thought the ban was a good idea.

“We are fed up with talking about Covid, we can’t stand it anymore, wherever we go we only talk about Covid,” said the 58-year-old man.

“I like to talk about anything but that, I’d rather talk about the weather, or celebrities,” he added.

Corona virus there are always everywhere, starting from handsanitizer to the mask worn by all who do not eat and drink.

The cafe itself had to close early, at 6 p.m., under a government order designed to control coronavirus infection rates.

To help divert attention, Mattioli has put up other posters offering ideas for conversation, including history and culture.

“This is a wise initiative, I would even say it is indispensable,” added hairstylist Maurizio Ciocari, who is also a customer of the bar.

“You have to stop talking about it, you have to solve the problem, not talk about it,” said Ciocari.

As a fan rock n’ roll With his long hair hanging down, the 63-year-old said that he could easily find other things to discuss.

“We talk about everything. Me, I like music,” he said.

And what happens if a client starts accidentally discussing exponential curves or potential vaccines?

“There are no sanctions, but I will show you the poster (the ban),” said Mattioli with a smile.

Two new customers who heard about this initiative, came to congratulate him.

“Another cafe manager in Trentino (in northern Italy) has made a similar poster, even though he asked my permission first,” he added proudly.
