Scientists have found that the oldest living shark will soon be 400 years old. The longevity was discovered in the North Atlantic in 2016.
At the time, scientists could not determine exactly how old the shark was. The range extends from 272 to 512 years. As it turned out, she is now 397 years old.
Such a long life of sharks is due to the slow metabolism – for example, females reach sexual maturity at only 150 years, reports Lad Bible.
Earlier, scientists discovered an ancient “winged” shark in Mexico. The shark was very similar to a stingray – it had long fins, the scope of which reached 1.9 meters.
