Police arrested a 34-year-old man on suspicion of molesting a 24-year-old woman.The police pointed out that they received a report from a 24-year-old woman the day before yesterday (29th) that she was molested by a man at Shen Mong Road, Cheung Sha Wan at about 9:30 pm on the same day.After investigating and checking a large number of CCTV records, members of the Cheung Sha Wan Task Force arrested a 34-year-old local man on Broadway Street at about 7:00 pm yesterday (30th) on suspicion of indecent assault.The man is being detained for investigation and the case is being followed up by Team 2 of the Criminal Investigation Team of Sham Shui Po District.
According to Section 122 of the Crimes Ordinance (Chapter 200 of the Laws of Hong Kong), “indecent assault” is a serious offense and the maximum penalty upon conviction is 10 years’ imprisonment. The police will deploy uniformed and plainclothes police officers to patrol, and appeal to the public not to defy the law.
