A 100-year-old pensioner does not stop working out of boredom

A man from Edinburgh, who recently turned 100, revealed that he still works three days a week and does not intend to slow down, writes Edinburgh Live.

He served in the Air Force during World War II, after which he trained and worked as a printer in Australia and South Africa.

David Flucker retired at the age of 72, but not for long, as he said he just had to keep his hands and mind busy. After a while he became bored and returned to work – he worked as a volunteer in the charity shop of the hospice “St. Columbus”. He maintains and arranges donated board games, puzzles and books for the hospice.

“I can’t sit idly by,” says the pensioner. “We get donations from people and we have to weed out what’s good and what’s bad. What we can sell and what we can’t sell. We try to do it not only as a hospice shop, but as a shop in general, which I really like. In fact, a lot of people have told us, “It’s not like a hospice shop at all, it’s more like Marks & Spencer. “.

“I like coming here because all the other volunteers are happy people, they all enjoy their work and look forward to coming.

“I think it’s a change from regular work, where you look forward to hearing the end of workday signal at five o’clock. I think people need to keep doing something, keep their minds working, their hands working and to be among the people, and to help the people, “says the longtime man.
