Hanoi,Vietnam – Vietnam’s National Assembly (NA) is poised to approve a sweeping package of laws and resolutions during its final session this week,addressing key areas from economic reform and digital change to national security and social welfare. The legislative push, culminating in a closing session on December 11, signals a concentrated effort to modernize the country’s legal framework and drive strategic development.
Among the economic and administrative priorities, the NA will adopt revised laws concerning tax management, income tax, Value Added Tax (VAT), investment, bankruptcy, and deposit insurance, alongside a new law governing people’s councils. A meaningful focus will be placed on the digital economy, with bills on digital transformation, artificial intelligence, e-commerce, and high technologies slated for approval.
Social legislation includes laws on population, disease prevention, and education. National security will be bolstered through new laws related to cybersecurity, state secrets, the defence industry, and combating drug trafficking.
Beyond legislation, the NA will consider several strategic resolutions, including those focused on environmental protection, the request of the Land Law, international integration, and the 2021-2030 national overall planning.National Target Programs for 2026-2035, targeting education, health, and poverty reduction in ethnic minority areas, are also on the agenda.
Specific development projects will receive parliamentary validation, including mechanisms to support Hanoi, ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang, as well as investments in Gia Binh airport and the vinh-Thanh Thuy highway.
The December 11 session will feature votes on resolutions evaluating the performance of key state bodies – the National Assembly, President, Government, Supreme People’s Court, Supreme People’s Procuratorate, and State Audit - for the 2021-2026 period. A further resolution from the 10th session of the 15th legislature will address the state budget, key measures for Long Thành airport, the North-South high-speed railway project, and the resolution of the Phuong Nam pulp mill issue.
The NA will also review judicial reports, anti-corruption efforts, and address petitions from voters.
