Los Angeles, California – A judge has rejected a bid for a new trial from a security guard who alleged cardi B intentionally threw a stiletto heel at her during a 2023 altercation, definitively closing the chapter on the civil case.Judge Fusselman‘s ruling, delivered recently, upholds the jury’s September verdict in favor of the rapper, dismissing claims of assault and battery.
The case stemmed from an incident on August 27, 2023, following a dispute at a los Angeles event. The security guard, alleging injury from a thrown shoe, initially sought damages from Cardi B.Though, the jury found in favor of the “Bodak Yellow” artist, and Judge Fusselman affirmed that decision was based solely on the evidence presented. This outcome protects Cardi B from further legal action related to the incident and reinforces the principle of relying on courtroom evidence over external influences.
following the jury’s decision, Judge Fusselman emphasized the deliberative process was untainted by outside factors.”They were free to ask any questions or make any comments, and they didn’t,” he stated, adding,”I don’t find that anything outside the courtroom had any impact on the jury’s deliberations.”
Cardi B, who is a mother of four, previously and emphatically denied the allegations, stating after the initial civil trial victory in September, “I did not touch that woman. I didn’t lay my hands on that girl.” The rapper has maintained her innocence throughout the legal proceedings.
