LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Four West Virginia University wrestlers – Ty Watters, Brody Conley, Rune Lawrence, adn Jordan Titus – advanced to the semifinals of the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invite on Friday, showcasing strong performances against a competitive field.
watters, ranked No. 1 at 157 pounds, dominated his competition, beginning with a 6-0 decision over Ohio’s Derek Raike.He continued his winning streak with a 9-3 decision against Cornell’s Benny Rogers before securing a spot in the semifinals with a commanding 15-0 technical fall victory over No. 8 seed Chance mclane. Watters will face Purdue’s No. 4 seed Stoney Buell in the next round.
At 174 pounds, No. 4 seed Brody Conley continued his impressive start to the 2025-26 season, earning three victories. Conley opened with a decision win, followed by a major decision, and then defeated No.5 seed Brody Baumann by major decision, 8-0, to reach the semifinals where he will compete against No. 1 seed Danny Wask.
Redshirt freshman Rune Lawrence, seeded No. 6 at his weight class, also punched his ticket to the semifinals. Lawrence began with a 15-1 major decision, then battled through overtime for a 4-1 decision over air force’s Karson Tompkins. He clinched his semifinal berth with a narrow 2-0 decision over Michigan’s Joseph walker and will now face Wyoming’s No. 2 seed Joey Novak.
Redshirt senior Jordan Titus delivered an upset in the 141-pound bracket, defeating No. 3 seed Julian Tagg by an 8-6 decision to advance to the quarterfinals. Freshman Gunner Andrick also contributed with two wins, defeating No.8 seed Blake Boarman and No. 9 seed Gabe Whisenhunt both by 4-1 decisions.
Semifinal action is scheduled to begin saturday at 1 p.m. and will be streamed on FloWrestling.
