Niagara Men’s hockey Secures First Road Win with 3-1 Victory Over Bentley
WALTHAM,Mass. – The Niagara Purple Eagles defeated the Bentley Falcons 3-1 on Friday night, securing their first road victory of the season. A strong performance in net by goaltender Deivs Rolovs and key goals from forwards Finnie and brockhoff propelled Niagara to the win.
The victory improves Niagara’s all-time record against Bentley to 18-12-3. Coming off a stretch of home games, this road win is a significant boost for the Purple Eagles as they continue their season and aim for a strong finish in Atlantic Hockey play.The team will look to build on this momentum as they conclude the weekend series against the Falcons on Saturday.
Niagara and Bentley played a scoreless first period, with Rolovs stopping all 13 shots he faced and the Purple Eagles managing just three shots on Bentley’s Lukas Swedin. The second period saw a pivotal penalty kill for Niagara, including a save by Rolovs on a penalty shot attempt by Ryan Mansfield at 16:57. Shortly after, Finnie broke the deadlock at 15:02, scoring his sixth goal of the season with an assist from Spencer Young, sending Niagara into the locker room with a 1-0 lead.
The third period featured a back-and-forth exchange of goals. Bentley tied the game at 9:48 with a goal from Jake Black, assisted by Stephen Castagna and Swedin. Niagara quickly responded, regaining the lead at 11:11 when Brockhoff scored his third goal of the season, assisted by Declan McDonnell and Maxim Muranov.Finnie sealed the victory with an empty-net goal at 17:50, his second of the night and seventh of the season, assisted by Dallon Melin and Glebs Prohorenkovs.
Rolovs finished the game with 37 saves on 38 shots, while Swedin stopped 16 of 18 shots for bentley.
