Utah Diving Set to Compete at Big Al Invitational
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of Utah diving team will head to Huntsville, Alabama, this week to compete in the Big Al Invitational, hosted by Auburn university. The invitational will provide a key competitive opportunity for the Utes as they prepare for the championship season.
The Big Al Invitational is a notable event for Utah’s divers, offering a chance to test their skills against a competitive field and gain valuable experience. Last season, Callie Eaglestone was named big 12 Freshman Diver of the Meet at the conference championships and both Eaglestone and Kathryn grant competed at the NCAA Championships, aiming to return to the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta this March.On the men’s side, Elias Petersen, the reigning Big 12 Men’s Diver of the Year, will be looking to build on his All-America status earned at the 2025 Championships with a fourth-place finish on the 1-meter springboard and a 25th-place finish on the 3-meter springboard.
Kathryn Grant and Callie Eaglestone will lead the women’s team, with Eaglestone having earned all-Big 12 first and second team honors. Petersen will anchor the men’s team, having broken his own program record in the 1m dive last year and the Ute Natatorium record with a score of 411.45. He will be joined by auburn transfer Alex Just.
The Utes’ diving program recently added Logan Andrews as a coach, bringing experience from New Mexico and Ouachita Baptist.Andrews competed at Auburn, qualifying for NCAA Zones all four years and being a two-time finalist at the SEC Championships, where he was teammates with current Utah swimming assistant coach Aly Tetzloff.
