Abim Thomas: A Leader in Law and Litigation at Fidelity Investments
Abim Thomas currently serves as Vice President and Associate General counsel within the Litigation group at Fidelity Investments. Her extensive legal career is marked by significant leadership roles and a commitment to public service and mentorship.
Prior to joining Fidelity, Thomas held the position of Head of Global Litigation at Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated. before that, she was a litigation partner at Goodwin Procter, specializing in securities, white-collar criminal defense, and complex commercial litigation. Her experience also includes a period of public service as Deputy Chief Counsel to Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, and earlier work as a litigation associate at Ropes & Gray.

Beyond her corporate roles, Thomas is deeply involved in several organizations dedicated to justice and legal well-being. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for both Discovering justice and the Ella Lyman Cabot Trust. She also holds the position of Vice Chair of the Massachusetts Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers Oversight Committee, demonstrating a dedication to supporting the mental health and professional obligation of her peers.
Thomas is a committed mentor,actively participating in the Women’s Bar Association’s Women’s Leadership Initiative. Her past leadership roles include service on the Boston Bar Association Council and as President of the Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association. She is also a proud alumna of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Fellows program.

Abim Thomas’s contributions to the legal field have been widely recognized. She has been honored as a “Leader in the Law” and one of the “Top Women of law” by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers Magazine, and a “Top Lawyer” by Lawyers of Color. Further accolades include the Ida B.Wells Award from Massachusetts Black Women Attorneys and recognition as one of the “50 Most Influential Attorneys of Color in Greater Boston” by Get Konnected.
Thomas’s academic background includes degrees from Harvard University and Georgetown University Law Center.
