Mirepoix Students Embark on Immersive Parisian Art & architecture Study Trip
PARIS - Terminale students from Lycée de Mirepoix completed an intensive week-long study trip to paris, November 8th to 14th, immersing themselves in the city’s rich artistic and architectural heritage. The journey encompassed over 60 kilometers of walking exploration, museum visits, and landmark discoveries, providing a pivotal experience for the rural students as they prepare for crucial end-of-year assessments.
This educational excursion represents a significant chance for students from the mirepoix region to directly engage with world-renowned art, experience the vibrancy of Parisian culture, and cultivate independence within a major metropolitan surroundings. the trip is designed to not only broaden their cultural understanding but also to directly inform their upcoming portfolio presentations and oral baccalaureate examinations.
Throughout the week, the students explored six major Parisian museums: the Picasso Museum, the louvre, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, the Musée d’Art Moderne, the Orangerie, and the cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine.They also visited five significant temporary exhibitions, including showcases of Kandinsky, Berthe Weil, Niki de Saint Phalle, Paris 1925 – Arts Déco, and paul Poiret, paris 1925 – Architecture.
Beyond the museums, the itinerary included visits to iconic Parisian sites such as the Sainte-Chapelle, the Basilica of Saint-Denis, the Montmartre district, the home of Viollet-le-Duc at 68, rue Condorcet, and the ongoing restoration site of Notre-Dame Cathedral. Despite two overnight train journeys,students were comfortably accommodated in a centrally-located hotel in the Marais district,complete with on-site dining services. Several students supplemented the structured program with self-reliant explorations during their free time, demonstrating a keen enthusiasm for discovery.
