FRISCO, TX – East Texas A&M University men’s golfer Janis Erll earned Southland Conference Men’s Golfer of the Month honors for October, the conference announced Monday. This marks the first such recognition for an East Texas A&M player this season.
Erll, a native of Lich, Germany, spearheaded the lions’ victory at the LaTour Intercollegiate, finishing tied for first place individually before losing in a playoff. His standout performance included a second-round score of 62, establishing both a new course record and a program record for the lowest single-round score-surpassing even that of PGA star Brooks Koepka at the same course.
Earlier in October, Erll secured a top-eight finish at the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate, contributing to the team’s third-place result. East Texas A&M concluded its fall tournament schedule with the LaTour Intercollegiate win. The spring schedule will be released in the coming weeks.
