Man Charged After Disrupting ‘Wicked: For Good’ Premiere in Singapore
A 28-year-old man, identified as Wen, has been charged with disorderly conduct following an incident at the Singapore premiere of Wicked: For Good on Thursday. Wen reportedly rushed the yellow carpet,briefly making contact with actress Ariana Grande before being apprehended by security. He subsequently posted videos of the incident and his arrest to Instagram.
This is not the frist time Wen has gained notoriety for disrupting high-profile events. His history includes onstage rushes at concerts by The Chainsmokers, Katy Perry, and The Weeknd, as well as intrusions into the 100m finals at the 2024 Paris Olympics and the 2023 Cricket World Cup finals. Authorities confirmed his arrest following the Wicked premiere, and Wen himself claimed to be “free” after being taken into custody in a subsequent social media post.
According to police reports, wen confirmed his involvement shortly after the incident, sharing a video on Instagram with the caption: “Dear Ariana Grande, thank you for letting me jump on the Yellow Carpet with you.” He later shared additional footage from a different angle showing his removal from the venue.
Wicked: for Good, based on the hit Broadway musical, premiered in cinemas worldwide on November 21. NME gave the film a four-star review, calling it “funny, colourful and full of empathy for outsiders.”
