Title: Myles McLaughlin Shatters Records, Leads Knox to Playoff Victory

Knox, Indiana – Myles‍ McLaughlin⁤ etched his name into the national high‌ school football record books Friday night, breaking two national rushing records while leading Knox High School to a crucial playoff victory over Angola. The senior quarterback surpassed dominick Bragalone’s single-season rushing record ‍of 4,704 ​yards and also exceeded the single-season rushing attempts record, finishing the game with 462 carries.

McLaughlin’s historic performance⁣ came during a 28-21 win that propelled Knox⁢ (13-0) further into the state playoffs. He rushed for 372​ yards and ​four touchdowns, bringing his season ‍total to 4,768 yards. His record-breaking touchdown, the fourth of the night, came late in the fourth quarter on a long scoring drive, extending Knox’s lead. earlier in ⁣the game, mclaughlin scored on a 52-yard run in the first quarter⁤ and a nine-yard run in the second, surpassing the previous ⁢Indiana state record of 70 rushing touchdowns held by T.A. McLendon of Albemarle (N.C.) in 2001.He now has 71 touchdowns for the season.

Beyond the rushing records, McLaughlin also sealed ​the victory with a late-game interception, adding another layer to his dominant performance.

“I just ‌want to win,” McLaughlin​ said. ​”I want​ to win a state championship for my school. We’ve never won ⁢a​ state championship here. So my goal ​is to keep winning.‌ And I think with the winning, the records will come.”

The 5-foot-10, 190-pound McLaughlin has received offers from Ball State and ⁢Valparaiso and is attracting⁣ interest⁢ from other Division I programs. With the win, Knox advances in the playoffs, giving McLaughlin the prospect to continue pursuing Derrick Henry’s all-time career high⁤ school rushing record of 12,124 yards.
