NVIDIA Leaders Honored with Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering
LONDON - NVIDIA Founder and CEO jensen Huang and Chief Scientist Bill dally have been awarded the prestigious Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering, recognizing their groundbreaking contributions to the development of accelerated computing. The pair were lauded for innovations that have revolutionized fields ranging from artificial intelligence and healthcare to climate modeling and scientific research.
Huang and Dally’s work has been instrumental in creating the processing power necessary to train large AI models, simulate complex physical systems, and accelerate scientific revelation. their advancements underpin the widespread adoption of AI technologies globally. The award acknowledges a strong tradition of engineering excellence in the U.K., celebrating innovators whose ideas shape the future.
The recognition coincided with National Engineering Day in the U.K., and Huang and Dally participated in a roundtable discussion at 10 Downing Street with Secretary of State for Science, Technology and Innovation Liz Kendall, and Minister for Science, Research, Innovation and Nuclear Lord Patrick Vallance. The discussion focused on inspiring future generations of engineers and expanding AI infrastructure, research, and skills within the U.K.
Further solidifying his recognition, Huang also received the Professor Stephen Hawking Fellowship from the cambridge Union Society, presented by Lucy Hawking, daughter of Stephen Hawking. “Professor Hawking’s life showed that intellect has no boundaries,” Huang stated. “That curiosity – pursued with humor and grace – can expand the reach of humanity. He taught us that discovery is an act of optimism.” The Hawking Fellowship honors individuals who advance STEM fields and promote public understanding of science and technology.
