Q36.5 Launches Controversially Named “Condom“ Cycling Jacket
Italian cycling apparel brand Q36.5 has unveiled a new, limited-run wet-weather capsule collection featuring a uniquely named mid-layer jacket dubbed “The Condom.” The garment, designed for cold and wet racing conditions, is part of a three-piece system also including the Rain Shell Plus Jacket and a base layer, all currently used by the Q36.5 Pro cycling team.
The collection is engineered for riders who continue training and racing through harsh winter weather. According to Q36.5, ”The condom” and its accompanying layers are built to provide warmth and aerodynamic performance, allowing riders to remove the outer Rain Shell Plus Jacket as races progress. All pieces are manufactured in Italy in limited quantities, mirroring the apparel worn by professional athletes but without team-specific sponsorship branding.
The Rain Shell Plus Jacket features fleece lining in the chest and arms to maintain warmth during the initial stages of races like the Giro d’Italia. Q36.5 emphasizes that while the system is optimized for use together, individual garments can be purchased separately.
“These pieces were made for professionals, but they work just as well for any rider who refuses to stay indoors,” stated Q36.5’s Bergamo.
Pricing and availability for “The Condom” and the full capsule collection have not yet been announced, but are expected to be premium. Updates will be provided as details becomes available.
