Asda Expands Rapid Delivery with Extended Uber Direct Partnership
Asda has renewed its partnership with Uber Direct, Uber’s white-label delivery service, to expand its one-hour delivery options to more locations across the UK. The multi-year agreement builds on a accomplished collaboration that began in 2021, when Asda first introduced on-demand delivery.
As the initial launch, Asda has developed one of the UK’s largest same-day delivery networks, now a key component of its online business. the extended partnership will leverage Uber Direct’s courier network - the same network utilized by Uber Eats – to increase the availability of Asda’s Express Delivery service. This expansion will also enable Asda to handle larger grocery orders nationwide, catering to customers’ full weekly shopping needs thru on-demand delivery.
Originally available from around 300 superstores, the service expanded to 10 additional locations in the latter half of 2025, with further expansion planned throughout 2026. This growth supports Asda’s commitment to “deliver real value for ordinary working people” by broadening customer access to convenient grocery delivery.
Asda’s logistics operation has scaled substantially to meet the growing demand for Express Delivery since its introduction.Industry analysis suggests on-demand delivery currently represents nearly 10% of all online grocery sales in the UK, a figure projected to increase substantially by the end of the decade (according to research by Retail Economics and Uber Direct).
“Express Delivery has proven particularly popular with our customers, enabling them to have their everyday essentials delivered within hours of placing an order,” said Barney Burgess,VP of Online at Asda. “Uber Direct’s strong performance and reliable service has been vital in helping us to grow the service to date. We are excited to continue growing our partnership with Uber Direct and to keep delivering an remarkable and convenient service to our customers.”
Caroline Varga, Regional Manager, Uber Direct EMEA, added, “It’s been incredibly exciting to be part of Asda’s growth journey thes last few years, and we look forward to building an even closer relationship. This deal is a testament not just to the strength and competitive advantage provided by our white-label delivery service, but also a reflection of the success we’ve seen through the wider Uber partnership, across both the Uber Eats and Uber Direct platforms.”
Asda’s success extends to the Uber Eats platform, where its recently added Asda Express convenience stores are currently exceeding the performance of the broader convenience market, based on Q2 2025 results.
