Rosario Artists Explore the Power of Song in New Exhibition at Casa Vanzo Wernicke
rosario, Argentina – Casa Vanzo Wernicke will open its doors this Thursday, the 13th, from 7 to 10 p.m., for the Open Studio event showcasing the latest work from Capsule #4 of the “Forma Canción” Artistic Research Laboratory. The exhibition features the creations of eight artists selected through a public call, all exploring the potent creative possibilities within the structure of the song.
This iteration of the Laboratory, known as an Artistic Research Laboratory (LIA), centered its examination around the song not merely as a musical form, but as a “compressed universe of meaning.” Artists were challenged to dissect and reimagine the song’s core elements – repetition, simplicity, and emotional resonance – as a springboard for diverse artistic expression.
“The song functions as a powerful unit of creation,” explains Mauro Guzmán, Visual Artist and Artistic Coordinator of Casa Vanzo Wernicke, who served as the general tutor for the capsule. “its inherent structure, combined with its capacity for emotional depth, provided a unique framework for the residents’ research and production.”
The artists - anabel Martin,Juan Bautista Santiesteban,Gerardo vitali,Agustina di Pratula, martín José Moreno,Julia Bartulovich,Lucas Ciliberti, and Juliana Arias – engaged in a collaborative experience guided by guest tutor pauline Fondevila,a multidisciplinary artist specializing in visual art, music, composition, and vocal performance.
The LIA program, funded by the Promotion System of the Secretariat of Culture and Education of the Municipality of Rosario, offers selected artists a stipend to support their creative endeavors. Each capsule focuses on a specific theme and operates on a defined timeframe, fostering focused artistic inquiry.
This exhibition promises a compelling look at how artists can deconstruct and rebuild familiar forms to unlock new avenues of creative expression, demonstrating the enduring power of the song as a catalyst for innovation across disciplines.
