Newell & Alize departed AEW Collision Over Disagreement on Match Length
Hoboken, NJ – November 11, 2025 – Nixon Newell (formerly Tegan nox) and Miranda Alize reportedly left the November 8th, 2025 edition of AEW Collision prior to their scheduled tag team match against Tay Melo and Anna Jay.Newell detailed the circumstances surrounding their departure during a recent Twitch stream, citing concerns over a planned three-minute match length.
The pair, who wrestle independently as a tag team and are also a couple, expressed their belief that a three-minute bout woudl not adequately showcase their abilities or benefit anyone involved.Newell explained they had arrived at the venue on Saturday and weren’t informed of their match until shortly after doors opened.
“So we turned up Saturday, hanging around, not told anything until just after doors opened. Hey, you guys are wrestling TayJay. Cool. We came with a bunch of ideas. We were ready. And then they walk away, they come back. Incidentally, it’s three minutes, which no one’s going to be happy with three minutes, but we weren’t there going, ‘What the fck? Like three minutes? What the fck?’ It was never that situation,” Newell stated.
After being informed of the brief match time, Newell and Alize approached a producer to voice their concerns. “So we just asked, ‘Hey, is it three minutes?’ ‘Yeah.’ ‘okay.’ And after the promo that we cut, we were told to make ourselves to be a credible tag team, all this stuff. So that’s what we did. And then we decided collectively as a partnership, a couple, a tag as wrestling independently, that three minutes is going to benefit no-one in this match.”
Newell emphasized their respectful approach. “So we were polite, we were respectful. We called our producer over and we said, ‘Hey, I don’t think three minutes are going to benefit either of us, not just us, but everyone in the tag team. And we want what’s best for everyone.’ So respectfully, we prefer this to go to someone that it can benefit. And it went to the other two females, good on them. There was never bad blood. We spoke to everyone involved. It wasn’t a, ‘F*ck you, we’re leaving at all.'”
According to Newell, many individuals within AEW agreed with their assessment. “A lot of people were in agreeance with us. So the producer said, ‘Okay, no worries.'” They were later given permission to leave the venue.”They text us. They said, ‘All good. No problem. You guys are free to go if you like, because if you would never been in our venue, it’s tiny, right? It’s very, very tiny.’ so we were just like, ‘Let’s just make space for people and we’ll head home.’ We were given the go ahead to leave. And we did.”
