Madrid Prostitute Reveals Harrowing Cycle of Work and Addiction: “We Work to smoke”
Madrid, Spain – A new examination by the Spanish program Callejeros has brought to light the brutal realities faced by sex workers in Madrid, with one woman candidly detailing a life consumed by addiction and survival. Led by journalist Fanny Boehm, the team visited the Marconi industrial area, a known hotspot for prostitution, where thay encountered a woman willing to share her story.
Sitting on a curb, the woman openly admitted to spending all of her earnings on drugs. “Buy drugs!” she stated plainly when asked about her finances. “It’s our routine. We work to smoke.We finish the client and go directly to buy drugs.”
She described a relentless existence, stating, “I live here! Imagine… Until I get sleepy, which is when I go to sleep and that’s it.” The woman revealed her descent into prostitution followed a devastating personal loss – the murder of her husband three or four years ago.
consumed by heroin and base, she explained that basic needs often go unmet. “we work for that,for drugs. Because,sometimes,we even go without eating. We prefer to smoke than eat. It’s the truth,” she confessed, illustrating a seemingly inescapable cycle.
The woman detailed her pricing, charging 10 euros for oral sex and 20 euros for full intercourse, and claiming to earn a minimum of 100 euros per day.Her testimony offers a stark glimpse into a hidden world where addiction and the struggle for survival are inextricably linked.
