WWE veteran D-Von Dudley‍ Praises Logan Paul‘s Dedication, Explains⁢ Evolution of Celebrity Involvement in ‍Wrestling

WWE Hall of Famer ‍D-Von dudley has lauded Logan Paul’s rapid progress as a professional wrestler, acknowledging the YouTube star’s commitment to the⁤ craft despite having no prior experience. Dudley’s comments, made in a recent‌ interview with “Videogamer,” come three years after Paul debuted in WWE,⁣ competing against top stars⁣ like Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins and earning praise for his‌ in-ring work.

Dudley credited Paul’s ability to quickly absorb training and techniques, stating, “the stuff I’ve seen, I think he’s‍ a true athlete and he ⁢takes ⁤the game very seriously and my hat goes off to him. Someone who had no experience in doing what we do here, and he’s picked it up, he’s absorbed it like a sponge. My hat goes off to him.” However, Dudley also suggested ⁣Paul’s approach might have been met with resistance in wrestling’s past, notably during his time in WCW.

The veteran explained that older-school wrestlers ⁣frequently⁢ enough resented the involvement of outside personalities, and would actively attempt to unsettle them.”They would’ve tried to get under his skin and make him crack under pressure because‌ they didn’t ‌like‍ outside public figures‍ working in ⁢the business,” ⁣Dudley said.

Despite ⁣this, Dudley believes ‍the inclusion of celebrities and athletes in ⁣wrestling is ultimately a positive trend for the industry. He drew parallels to‌ past crossovers like Dennis Rodman and carl malone’s ⁤appearances in WCW, and more recently, Bad Bunny’s success in WWE. “It’s definitely a crossover. Their fanbase with ours… People who⁤ wouldn’t normally watch wrestling are watching it because of those guys. They’re helping to put bums⁣ on seats and get ratings up,” he stated. This influx of new ⁤viewers, Dudley argues, is crucial for the continued growth and visibility of professional wrestling.
