AEW Full Gear to Feature Women’s World Championship Clash Between Statlander and Mone
Newark, New Jersey will host a highly anticipated Women’s World championship match at AEW Full gear on November 22, pitting reigning champion Kris Statlander against Mercedes Mone. The bout was officially announced following a series of escalating confrontations between the two wrestlers.
The rivalry ignited after Statlander’s title defense against Toni Storm on Saturday, when Mone interrupted the celebration and demanded Statlander vacate the ring. While Statlander initially complied, she retaliated following Mone’s eleventh simultaneous title victory over interim ROH Women’s TV Champion Mina Shirakawa, delivering a decisive blow to mone. This followed a previous ambush on Dynamite where Statlander and Harley Cameron upended Mone’s championship celebration, culminating in Mone being slammed face-first into a cake and through a table.
This match marks the first official contest scheduled for the Full Gear pay-per-view. Statlander and Mone have previously clashed twice for the TBS Championship - at last year’s Full Gear and again at Worlds End – with Mone emerging victorious on both occasions. Mone’s only prior challenge for a world championship in AEW came at All In Texas this past July, where she was unsuccessful against then-women’s World Champion Toni Storm.
