Bruins Give Brad Marchand Emotional Homecoming Despite Panthers Uniform
BOSTON – Brad Marchand returned to TD Garden on Thursday for the first time as a visiting player, and the Boston Bruins ensured it was a night he would never forget. In a poignant display of respect, the Bruins honored their former captain, now a member of the Florida Panthers, with a heartfelt video tribute and standing ovation during their game on October 21, 2025 – exactly 16 years after Marchand’s NHL debut with the Bruins.
The emotional return came full circle as Marchand factored into the game’s opening goal. He drew a tripping penalty on Boston’s Tanner Jeannot just 1:28 into the first period, leading to a power play goal by Mackie Samoskevich, with Marchand credited with the primary assist. The crowd responded with cheers as Marchand’s name was announced alongside the play.
Midway through the first period, the Bruins paused the game for a video tribute showcasing Marchand’s 14 seasons with the team. Notably, Marchand recorded an assist in his NHL debut with the Bruins on October 21, 2009, in a 3-2 victory over the Nashville Predators.
