“My sister never spoke about her problems – she was always cheerful, as if nothing was wrong… I can’t accept that she and her daughter were murdered. Even animals love their young,” said Sariya’s brother, Bismi Che Hin, 60, in an interview with Berita Harian (BH) today.
Bismi recounted seeing Sariya moast recently during Hari raya and again at her son’s wedding - the child from her first marriage. He described his sister, the youngest of six siblings, as having remarried a few years ago and having moved frequently before settling in the Kampung Sekolah Juru home.
Sariya had one biological child and had also adopted her niece, raising her from a young age. Bismi learned of the tragedy through a message from a sibling and immediately travelled to Penang.
“This attack is cruel and inhumane,” Bismi said, expressing disbelief and profound grief. He urged authorities to swiftly apprehend those responsible.
