centenarian Celebrates 110th Birthday with Faith and Family
Sydney, Australia – October 19, 2025 - Bill Morgan, a devout minister and beloved patriarch, reached an extraordinary milestone today, celebrating his 110th birthday surrounded by generations of family. The Sydney resident, born on February 22, 1915, is believed to be Australia’s oldest man and one of the oldest in the world.
Morgan’s longevity is a testament to his unwavering faith and positive outlook, qualities he credits for navigating a life spanning two world wars, the great Depression, and countless personal challenges. His story resonates as a beacon of hope and resilience, particularly during times of global uncertainty, and offers a powerful message about the importance of perseverance and spiritual grounding. The family plans a continued series of celebrations throughout the week, culminating in a community event next Saturday.
Born in pygalong, New South Wales, Morgan dedicated his life to ministry and service. he served as a pastor for over 40 years, impacting countless lives with his compassionate guidance and steadfast belief. He is also remembered for his remarkable recovery from a near-fatal illness in 1998, an experience that further solidified his faith and inspired him to share his story of hope.
When asked for advice for those facing difficult times, Morgan offered simple yet profound wisdom: “Whatever you do, don’t give up. If you’ve got faith in God, trust Him. If you haven’t got faith, find it. Keep on keeping on.”
He frequently draws strength from the hymn What A Friend We Have in Jesus, often reciting the lines: “Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? we should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer!”
Morgan is a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. His family affectionately refers to him as “great-buppa,” a title reflecting the expansive reach of his love and legacy. His son, john Morgan, and daughters Lib and Heather, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, were present for today’s celebrations. His wife, Joan, predeceased him.
