Policy Context
The Canada Carbon Rebate is a key component of the federal government’s climate affordability strategy. The policy aims to balance environmental responsibility with affordability, supporting Canada’s goal of reducing CO₂ emissions by 40-45% below 2005 levels by 2030. The rebate is separate from other benefits like the Goods and Services Tax (GST) credit or the Canada Child Benefit (CCB) and does not affect their amounts.
