OKC Thunder Convert Chris Youngblood to Two-Way Contract,Bolster G League Roster
Oklahoma City – the Oklahoma City Thunder finalized their roster moves Saturday, converting the exhibition 10 contract of sharpshooter Chris Youngblood to a two-way deal. Youngblood joins Brooks Barnhizer and Branden Carlson as Thunder players on two-way contracts, allowing them to play up to 50 NBA games each before the team must decide on their future.
The Thunder also waived exhibition 10 contracts belonging to Zack Austin, Malevy Leons, and Dariq Whitehead, securing their G League rights for the OKC Blue. The Blue are aiming to build on their success, having won the NBA G League title in their first two seasons. Oklahoma City prioritizes the G League as a key developmental tool, and the team now boasts a highly competitive roster for its minor league affiliate.
Youngblood has impressed throughout his basketball journey, progressing from Kennesaw State to Alabama and then excelling in NBA Summer League with the Thunder and continuing to showcase his 3-point shooting in the preseason. While playing time in the NBA may be limited, coach Mark Daigneault has historically utilized sharpshooters in end-of-quarter situations, perhaps providing Youngblood opportunities.
the 23-year-old guard possesses the quickest release on the roster and has demonstrated strong movement shooting ability. The Thunder hope continued growth in the G League will further refine his skills and potentially position him as a valuable asset in the future.
