From Discarded to Dazzling: seoul Exhibition Showcases the Power of Upcycled Fashion & Community
Seoul, South Korea – A powerful message of sustainability and intergenerational connection is taking center stage at the Hello Museum in Seongsu-dong, Seoul. The Beautiful Store’s ‘Mesh Project 2025’ exhibition, running until November 7th, is breathing new life into 2,500 donated items, transforming them into stunning works of art and wearable fashion.
The exhibition officially launched on October 17th with a captivating fashion show featuring approximately 20 senior models. These models, students from the Korea fashion Artists Association (W Team), showcased upcycled garments crafted by students at the Fashion Beauty Style School of Chungkang University of Culture and Industry. Old jackets and jeans were skillfully reconstructed into modern, eye-catching designs – floral pants, denim jackets, frilly skirts, and sleeveless vests – proving that discarded materials can have a vibrant second life.

But ‘Mesh Project 2025’ is more than just a fashion statement. It’s rooted in the Beautiful Store’s core philosophy: “we are all responsible for each other’s lives.” The project’s name, “Mesh,” symbolizes the interconnectedness of our responsibilities – not only to one another but also to the planet.
What sets this exhibition apart is its commitment to a truly circular economy. Unlike many environmental and upcycling displays, all the materials used are sourced from donations made by citizens to the Seoul netko Center. And the cycle doesn’t end with the exhibition; at its conclusion, the artworks will be dismantled and the materials recirculated for future projects.
Visitors will have the chance to purchase pieces from the fashion show at a flea market held in the hello Museum courtyard from October 24th to 26th.
‘Mesh Project 2025’ is a compelling demonstration of how creativity, community, and conscious consumption can converge to create a more enduring future. It’s a must-see for anyone interested in fashion, environmentalism, or the power of collective action.
