Grammy-winning singer Laufey is expanding her creative portfolio with the upcoming release of her debut children’s book, ”Mei Mei The Bunny,” set to hit shelves on April 21. The picture book, published by Penguin Workshop, marks a new chapter for the icelandic-Chinese artist, known for blending pop, classical, and jazz influences in her music.
Laufey, whose full name is Laufey Lín Bing Jónsdóttir, created the character Mei Mei The Bunny as a mascot and now brings her story to life for young readers. The book, illustrated by Lauren O’Hara, follows Mei Mei’s journey as she pursues her dream of becoming a professional musician, navigating challenges along the way. This venture allows Laufey to connect with a broader audience and share a message of perseverance and inspiration.

The 26-year-old musician gained widespread recognition with her 2023 album, ”Bewitched,” which earned her a Grammy Award for best conventional pop vocal album. She recently released “A Matter of Time” earlier this year,further solidifying her position as a rising star in the music industry. Laufey has also collaborated with renowned artists like Barbra Streisand and performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
