Mediterranean Dialogues launch in naples, Focus on Post-Ceasefire Middle East
Naples, Italy – the eleventh edition of the Mediterranean Dialogues opened today in Naples, marking the first time the annual event, organized by ISPI and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is held in the city. The conference is placing a important focus on the evolving situation in the Middle East,highlighted by the participation of both Palestinian National Authority Foreign Minister Varsen Aghabekian and Israeli Minister Gideon Sa’ar. Both ministers are scheduled too participate in separate panels and will be welcomed by Italian Foreign Minister antonio Tajani.
A central question driving discussions is “After Sharm el Sheikh,a new Middle East?” – referencing the recent ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel signed in the Egyptian resort town,attended by former U.S. President Donald Trump and other international leaders.Tajani will officially open this key session this afternoon, following a message from Italian President Sergio Mattarella, alongside Aghabekian and Iraqi Minister Fuad hussein.
the conference kicked off this morning with participation from representatives of Qatar, the United Arab emirates, Greece, Egypt, and countries in the Western Balkans. Tajani will also engage with these representatives in an afternoon panel discussion titled “Strengthening international diplomacy: the role of the Adriatic-Balkans region.”
The three-day event boasts portrayal from over 40 countries, with more than 300 experts contributing to 60 work sessions, and anticipates over 10,000 participants both in-person and online.
