Rangers‘ search for a new head coach continues after danny Rohl is no longer being considered for the position, sources within the club confirmed. While Rohl engaged in positive discussions with Rangers officials, the club is proceeding cautiously with its appointment process.
Rohl, 39, most recently managed Sheffield Wednesday, joining the club in October 2023 as the youngest manager in the English Football League. He successfully guided Wednesday to a 12th-place finish, avoiding relegation, but left the club this summer due to ongoing ownership and financial difficulties. Prior to his time in England, Rohl held coaching roles at RB Leipzig, Southampton, and Bayern Munich, and served as an assistant coach for the German national team.
The advancement comes as former Rangers midfielder Derek McInnes publicly stated he is focused on his current role at Heart of Midlothian, dismissing speculation linking him to the Ibrox vacancy.
Rangers are currently without a permanent manager following the departure of Michael Beale after just 17 games in charge. Beale left the team in eighth place in the Scottish Premiership with only one win in their last six matches. The club also suffered a 9-1 aggregate loss to Club Brugge in Champions League qualifying and have begun their Europa League campaign with two defeats.
rangers are next scheduled to play Dundee United in a domestic league match on Saturday.
