Remedy Entertainment and Nintendo have partnered to remake Max Payne 1 & 2, a project expected to offset the financial impact of Remedy’s cancelled Alan wake 2 Nintendo Switch advancement.
The decision to halt Alan Wake 2 on Switch, announced October 14, 2025, stemmed from challenges in achieving the desired quality level within a reasonable timeframe and budget. Remedy anticipates a 25 million euro hit to it’s 2025/2026 revenue, but believes the Max Payne remakes-developed in collaboration with Rockstar Games-will recoup these costs. The remakes are being funded jointly by Remedy and Rockstar, with Remedy leading development using its Northlight engine. No release timeframe for the Max payne remakes has been announced.
