Wrestling Announces 2025-26 Dual Meet Schedule
ERIE, Pa. – Mercyhurst University wrestling unveiled its competitive schedule for the 2025-26 season today, promising a challenging slate of dual meets for Head coach Jimmy Overhiser’s Lakers. The program will balance three home appearances with key road contests, culminating in a tri-meet at nearby Edinboro University.
The schedule provides a blend of opportunities for the Lakers to test their mettle against a diverse range of opponents, fostering growth and preparing them for championship competition. The announcement signals the start of preparations for the upcoming season, impacting student-athletes, coaching staff, and the university’s athletic program as a whole. Success in these dual meets will be crucial for seeding and positioning within the regional and national wrestling landscape.
Mercyhurst will launch its season with a tri-meet on November 22, facing off against VMI and Duke in consecutive matches beginning at 11:00 a.m. The Lakers then return home on December 6 to host Akron and Duquesne in another tri-meet, with action scheduled for 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
A mid-season road trip is slated for December 13,as Mercyhurst travels to Penn State Behrend to compete against PSU Altoona,with the first bout beginning at noon.
The team will be back on its home mat January 16, hosting Slippery Rock at 6:00 p.m. A special evening is planned for January 30, as the Lakers host Penn State Behrend at 6:00 p.m. for Senior Night, honoring the team’s graduating wrestlers.
The regular season will conclude on febuary 19 with a tri-meet at Edinboro, where Mercyhurst will also compete against Bloomsburg, with matches set for 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
