Bay FC Defender Sydney Collins Earns First Canada Women’s National Team Call-Up
SANTA CLARA, CA - Bay FC defender Sydney Collins has been selected for the Canada Women’s National Team for the upcoming October international window, the club announced today. This marks the first call-up for Collins,who began her professional career with the North Carolina Courage earlier this season.
Collins joined Bay FC on August 22 via trade from North Carolina and immediatly signed a new multi-year contract, securing her place with the club through 2027. Since debuting for Bay FC on September 1 at Angel City FC, she has appeared in all seven of the club’s matches and ranks among the league’s top defenders with 14 interceptions and 33 recoveries.
Canada will open the October window on Friday, October 24 at 10:30 a.m. PT against Switzerland (FIFA ranked #24) at the Swissporarena in Lucerne. The team will then travel to the Netherlands to face the Dutch (FIFA ranked #11) on Tuesday, October 28 at 11:45 a.m. PT at the Goffertstadion in Nijmegen.
Bay FC returns to action at home on Friday, October 17 for its final home match of the 2024 season, hosting the North Carolina Courage for Fan Recognition Night at PayPal Park, presented by PNC Bank. The first 5,000 fans in attendance will receive a Bay FC beanie, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. PT. Tickets are available at BayFC.com/tickets.
