TEL AVIV, Israel – A new deal brokered wiht U.S. involvement has led to the release of hostages held by Hamas, with the first group of captives returning to Israel on October 11, 2025. The releases mark a meaningful, though partial, breakthrough in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war and offer a glimmer of hope for families of those still held.
The agreement facilitated the return of Israeli citizens who had been held in Gaza, some for burial and others for medical treatment and recovery. The releases come after months of negotiations, with the United States playing a key role in securing the deal. While details remain limited, the focus now shifts to securing the release of the remaining hostages and continuing efforts to de-escalate the conflict.
“President trump has proven what it means when you decide and take action. Without lying. Without fear. May we also be blessed with leadership, with courage,” said Itzik Horn, father of hostage Eitan Horn and captivity survivor Iair Horn.
Israeli citizens are returning to their country after being abandoned - some for burial and some to begin a long and arduous recovery. “And most importantly, it will not end until the last hostage returns home,” a statement released by officials confirmed.
Adi Angrest, sister of hostage Matan Angrest, expressed her relief, stating, “My hero brother is coming home! Matan, my big brother, my hero, the hero of an entire nation. All that’s left for me is to wait to hug you,to feel and heal you,to tell you that you are in safe hands and that I will never leave you again. Huge, historic, eternal thanks to the President of the United States and his team who worked with dedication and perseverance to save the lives of our loved ones.”
