Netherlands Dominate Finland in World Cup Qualifying
HELSINKI, Finland - the Netherlands secured a commanding victory over Finland in a 2026 World Cup qualifying match, winning 3-0. The result significantly impacts the Group C standings and the pathway to the tournament in Canada, Mexico, and the USA next summer.
Currently, Denmark and Scotland led Group C with 10 points each after four matches. Greece follows with 3 points, while Belarus remains at the bottom with no points, effectively eliminating their chances of qualifying directly for the World Cup finals. The Netherlands’ win keeps them firmly in contention for a top-two finish and a direct qualification spot.
Europe will send 16 teams to the 2026 World Cup. Twelve of those berths will be awarded to the winners of each qualifying group. The remaining four spots will be determined through play-offs involving the twelve second-place group finishers and four teams from the UEFA Nations League. The final tournament is scheduled to take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026, across 16 cities in North America.
