WUHAN, CHINA – Barbora Krejčíková Siniakova and Storm Sanders secured the doubles title at the Wuhan Open on Saturday, defeating Anna Danilina and Aleksandra Krunić 6-3, 6-2. The Czech-Australian pairing dominated the final, claiming their first title together and marking Siniakova’s fourth tournament triumph of the season.
The victory continues Siniakova’s impressive doubles record, adding to a career tally now boasting 32 titles. For Sanders, the Wuhan Open win represents her ninth career title and a return to form after a quieter stretch this year. This win also marks the first Czech doubles victory in Wuhan as Lucie Šafářová and Bethanie Mattek-Sands claimed the title in 2016.
Danilina and Krunić briefly challenged in the second set, breaking Siniakova and Sanders to lead 2-0. However,the favorites quickly responded,breaking back immediately and then surging to a commanding lead. The duo ultimately won six consecutive games, closing out the match in one hour and ten minutes.
Siniakova and Sanders proved a formidable team throughout the tournament, showcasing strong net play and consistent serving. Their cohesive performance in the final underscored their potential as a leading doubles force.
