Swyftx Expands Sports Investments with Super Rugby Title Sponsorship
Auckland, New Zealand – cryptocurrency exchange Swyftx has secured the naming rights to Super Rugby Pacific, marking a significant escalation of its sports sponsorship portfolio across Australia and New Zealand. The deal, announced today, underscores a growing trend of digital asset firms investing in mainstream sports to drive brand awareness and adoption.
Swyftx intends to invest “millions of dollars” in sponsorships within new Zealand, with plans for that figure to increase alongside growing local cryptocurrency adoption. Currently, cryptocurrency usage in New Zealand ranges between 9% and 14%, lagging behind Australia’s 20% to 25% rate – a gap Swyftx aims to narrow through strategic partnerships. This latest sponsorship builds on existing investments in Australian sports, signaling a broader regional strategy.
“Until now, crypto sponsorships have largely been confined to overseas markets, and we are changing that by bringing the same level of international energy and innovation to local codes,” said Paul Quickenden, Swyftx country manager for New zealand. He emphasized the potential for New Zealand sport to benefit from the influx of global digital asset investment, citing opportunities to ”unlock new revenue streams, strengthen fan engagement, and ensure our professional and grassroots programmes are competing on a level playing field with the rest of the world.”
Swyftx Chief Executive John Titman views sports sponsorship as “one of the most effective ways” to accelerate cryptocurrency adoption in New Zealand, mirroring successful campaigns in Australia. The Super Rugby Pacific partnership represents a major step in this direction, bringing the Swyftx brand to a broad audience and further legitimizing cryptocurrency within the mainstream.
