Season’s First Big West Action on Tap Saturday at No. 12 Santa Barbara

UC San Diego Men’s Water Polo Heads to Santa⁢ Barbara for Big west Conference Opener

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -⁢ The UC San Diego men’s water⁢ polo team will​ begin its Big West Conference schedule this Saturday, traveling to No. ‌12 ‌UC Santa Barbara for a pivotal​ matchup. The game is slated for 12:00 p.m. at Campus Pool.

This marks the Tritons‘ first⁢ Big West action since transitioning to NCAA Division I in 2020. UC San Diego ⁢concluded its non-conference schedule with a 12-7 record, most recently defeating Fresno Pacific on October 19, 2024, with a score of 14-10. The team currently boasts a ​.598 winning percentage and has secured 64 goals while conceding 43.

UC San Diego Athletics ⁤completed two decades of success in NCAA‌ Division II before joining The‌ Big⁣ West. During its time in Divisions II and III, the program accumulated ⁢30 team and nearly 150 individual national championships, and has seen 1,400 scholar-athletes earn all-America‌ honors. The program maintains a 91% graduation rate for its student-athletes.
