UC San Diego Men’s Water Polo Heads to Santa Barbara for Big west Conference Opener
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The UC San Diego men’s water polo team will begin its Big West Conference schedule this Saturday, traveling to No. 12 UC Santa Barbara for a pivotal matchup. The game is slated for 12:00 p.m. at Campus Pool.
This marks the Tritons‘ first Big West action since transitioning to NCAA Division I in 2020. UC San Diego concluded its non-conference schedule with a 12-7 record, most recently defeating Fresno Pacific on October 19, 2024, with a score of 14-10. The team currently boasts a .598 winning percentage and has secured 64 goals while conceding 43.
UC San Diego Athletics completed two decades of success in NCAA Division II before joining The Big West. During its time in Divisions II and III, the program accumulated 30 team and nearly 150 individual national championships, and has seen 1,400 scholar-athletes earn all-America honors. The program maintains a 91% graduation rate for its student-athletes.
