Las Vegas Aces center A’ja Wilson celebrated her team’s third WNBA championship in four years adn her second finals MVP award alongside boyfriend and Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo following a 97-86 victory over the Phoenix Mercury on Friday, completing a four-game sweep. Video footage captured the joyous moment as Wilson embraced Adebayo, a three-time NBA All-Star, instantly after the final buzzer.
Wilson’s dominant performance throughout the series earned her the WNBA Finals MVP, averaging 28.5 points, 11.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.0 blocks. this accomplishment further solidifies Wilson’s place in WNBA history, as she is the first player in the league’s 29 seasons to win the regular-season MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and Finals MVP in the same year.
Earlier this year, Wilson became the first four-time WNBA MVP, leading the Aces to a remarkable 16-game win streak to close out the regular season. During that stretch, she averaged 23.4 points,10.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.3 blocks, and 1.6 steals.
