San Juan Regional Medical Center Opens New, Expanded Childbirth Center
FARMINGTON, NM – San Juan regional Medical Center unveiled its newly renovated and expanded Childbirth Center today, offering enhanced amenities and a patient-centered approach to maternity care. The modernized facility features private birthing suites designed to accommodate a support person, bolstering the hospital’s commitment to family-focused care during a meaningful life event.
The $2.8 million project addresses the growing needs of families in the Four Corners region, providing a secure and pleasant surroundings for labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery.The expanded center aims to improve the birthing experience with features like private bathrooms equipped with Jacuzzi tubs for water therapy, free Wi-Fi, and overnight accommodations for support individuals. The upgrades also reflect a broader trend toward “Baby-Amiable” designated facilities prioritizing immediate skin-to-skin contact and expert breastfeeding support-available at no cost thru certified consultants-to promote mother-baby bonding.
The Childbirth Center prioritizes patient safety with a secure, locked unit and matching armbands for both mother and baby. New additions include birthing bars to encourage flexible labor positions and a variety of labor tools designed to promote natural movement and comfort. The center also boasts a modern birthing gym and is a designated Baby-friendly facility.
