Polish Olympic Rower Celebrates International Lesbian Day with Partner
Polish Olympic vice-champion rower Magdalena Zillmann publicly celebrated International Lesbian Day on Thursday, sharing romantic photos with her partner, fellow rower Julia Walczak, on Instagram. Zillmann marked the occasion with a post stating, “Happy International Lesbian Day.”
Zillmann and Walczak’s public display of affection comes as Zillmann gains wider recognition through her participation in the current season of “Dancing with the Stars.” The Olympic medalist has been open about her sexuality, previously stating in an interview with “Wysokie Obcasy,” “I didn’t discover myself when I was a teenager, I’ve always been like that. My crushes have always been girls, even though I didn’t understand it as it wasn’t talked about.”
Zillmann achieved her greatest sporting success to date at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, winning a silver medal in the double sculls alongside Agnieszka Kobus-Zawojska, Marta Wieliczko, and Maria Sajdak. Walczak dedicated a medal won in Tokyo four years ago to the couple’s relationship during a TVP broadcast.
The post garnered comments from prominent figures including athlete Anna Kiełbasińska, presenter Marcelina Zawadzka, and politician Robert Biedroń, and also thousands of fans.
