Huesca: First Stone Laid for New Faculty of Medicine

Huesca‘s new Faculty ⁤of Medicine Construction Remains on Track

Construction ​of the new Faculty of Medicine in Huesca, housed in the former Children’s Residence, is progressing as scheduled. A recent institutional visit⁢ to the‌ site included Isaac Claver, President of the Provincial Council of Huesca; Claudia⁢ Pérez Forniés, Minister⁣ of Universities for the Government of Aragon; Rosa Bolea, Rector of the ​University of Zaragoza; Lorena Orduna, ⁢Mayor of Huesca;‍ and José Carlos Campo, Subdelegate of the ⁣Government in Huesca.

The project represents a total investment of €7.3 million, funded by ⁤€3 million from European funds, €3 million from the government of aragon, and ​the remaining funds from⁤ the Provincial Council.President Claver described the completion of the‍ Medicine degree program in Huesca as “a dream come true,” emphasizing the project’s significant social and educational impact alongside its⁢ financial investment.

Currently, 40% of the construction is complete, with⁢ structural and foundation ⁤work finished, over half the roof constructed, and interior classroom work underway. Completion is ​anticipated ​next‍ year, followed by equipment procurement, for which the Government of aragon has allocated €1.5​ million. As stated by Counselor Pérez and Rector Bolea, the‍ expansion of Medicine studies aims to address healthcare staffing needs⁤ and retain talent within the region. Counselor Pérez⁢ expressed hope that the Huesca campus ​will “serve to attract and retain talent in our territory.”

Along with ⁤the new faculty building, the⁤ Government of Aragon is also undertaking a separate project to establish biosanitary laboratories within the former Faculty ‍of Medicine headquarters in Huesca, as reported by Rector Bolea.
