Queen Elizabeth II’s Death Certificate Confirms ”Old Age” as Cause
BALMORAL, SCOTLAND - The official death certificate of Queen Elizabeth II, released Thursday by National Records of Scotland, lists “old age” as the sole cause of her death. The 96-year-old monarch passed away at Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire on september 8, 2022, at 3:10 p.m.
The extract from the Register of Deaths indicates that King Charles III adn Princess Anne were present at the time of her death. Princes Andrew and edward, and Prince William arrived at Balmoral approximately two hours later. The public proclamation of the Queen’s death came three and a half hours after the recorded time of passing.
The certificate notes the Queen’s usual residence as Windsor Castle and her occupation as “Her Majesty The Queen.” It also lists details of her parents, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, and her late husband, Prince Philip.
Douglass Glass, Apothecary to the Household at Balmoral as at least 2009, was the medical practitioner who signed the death certificate.
According to guidance from NHS Education for Scotland,”old age” should only be listed as the cause of death when a doctor has observed a gradual decline in health over a long period,is unaware of any specific disease or injury contributing to the death,and the patient is 80 or over.
