Spotify Integrates with ChatGPT for Personalized Music Recommendations
New York, NY – Spotify is partnering with OpenAI too bring its music recommendations into ChatGPT, allowing users to search for and share music conversationally within the AI platform. The integration aims to provide “something that matches every moment,” according to Spotify, offering a new way for fans to connect with artists and creators.
Spotify emphasized that no audio or video content will be shared with OpenAI for training purposes, and the feature will be entirely optional, requiring users to actively opt-in and offering the ability to disable it at any time.
“By bringing spotify into ChatGPT, we’re creating a powerful new way for fans to connect with the artists and creators they love conversationally, whenever inspiration strikes,” stated Sten Garmark, Spotify’s Global Head of Consumer Experience.
The announcement follows Spotify’s recent efforts to combat AI-generated “spam” music, having removed 75 million fraudulent tracks uploaded by users exploiting AI to game the system. These tracks have appeared falsely attributed to both deceased and living artists, including the widely-publicized case of the AI-generated act,The velvet Sundown.
The impact of the ChatGPT partnership on musicians and artists remains to be seen, as Spotify continues to invest in both personalization technology and human editorial expertise.
