NGC Claims Victory at 50th WAPDA Inter-Unit Badminton Competition
LAHORE – Teh National Grid Company (NGC) of Pakistan emerged victorious at the 50th WAPDA Annual Inter-Unit Badminton Competition, held at the WAPDA Sports Complex in Lahore. NGC secured first place wiht a total of 170 points, surpassing GEPCO (104 points) and FESCO (58 points), who finished second and third respectively.
Seven teams competed in the tournament: NGC, LESCO, GEPCO, FESCO, MEPCO, IESCO, and QESCO.
Top Pakistani badminton player Mahoor Shahzad successfully defended her singles title.NGC’s M Ali Larosh won the men’s singles title, and partnered with Awais Zahid to claim the men’s doubles title. In the officers’ category, Usman talib finished second in singles and, alongside Muneeb ud Din, won the officers’ doubles final. M Adnan secured second place in the men’s singles final,while Mahoor Shahzad and Farzana Ali were runners-up in the women’s doubles.
Engr.M Shahid Nazir, Managing Director of NGC, presented trophies and shields to the winners and team managers during the prize distribution ceremony.
“I credit my success to the great support of my family and the collective efforts of my extended support network,” said Mahoor Shahzad following her victory. “I’m deeply grateful to my parents, husband and entire family members, and especially those who cared for my daughter during the championship in Lahore.”
Shahzad also acknowledged her training team, including coach Shafique and Asad Bhai, and also the NGC team, Sunset Club for providing training facilities, and Team Activit for their ongoing support. She extended special thanks to her doubles partner, Farzana Baji.
