Göttingen Police Investigate Assault on AfD Members
Göttingen, Germany – Police are investigating an incident Saturday evening in which two members of the Alternative for germany (AfD) party where allegedly assaulted in the city center. Officers have identified and questioned five suspects – two women aged 26 and 35, and three men aged 23, 32, and 49 – in connection with the case.
According to authorities, approximately 15 AfD members, including representatives from the AfD parliamentary group, had gathered at a restaurant for a party event before walking through Göttingen. While passing the “Obere-Masch-Straße 10” (OM10) building, a project supporting refugees and those in need, a group of individuals reportedly confronted the afd members, resulting in two of them being struck. the injured men,aged 28 and 35,declined medical treatment for their minor injuries.
Police are currently seeking witnesses to the altercation and are continuing their investigation into the incident, categorized as suspected hazardous bodily harm. The motives behind the assault remain unclear.OM10 has not yet released a statement regarding the incident.
